Sacramental Program Forms & Information

​Mother of Mercy Parish follows the Sacramental Policy of the Archdiocese of Brisbane.  Generally, children will receive the sacraments according to the following program:
  • Year 3 – Children are sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit in the Sacrament of Confirmation.
  • Year 4 – Children  are welcomed to the Lord’s Table and receive Holy Communion for the first time.  
  • Year 5 -  Children are prepared to celebrate the Sacrament of Penance with individual confession and absolution.
 
Each year, a schedule outlining the sacramental program is provided to parents.  Preparation for the sacraments requires a commitment from families and should not be undertaken lightly.  Parents should seriously consider their child’s readiness for the sacrament and whether their families can commit to the time and preparation required to support children during this stage of their faith journey. 
 
Teenagers and adults are also welcome to prepare to receive the sacraments.  Please see our RCIA page for further information.
