Sacrament of Confirmation

ENROLMENTS FOR CONFIRMATION 2025 AT MOTHER OF MERCY PARISH ARE NOW OPEN for children in Year 3 and up.  Your child is eligible for this Sacrament if she or he have already received the Sacrament of Baptism.  This Sacrament shall be held at Our Lady Help of Christians Church, Hendra. 

Enrolments close Sunday 15th June 2025
Links to Online Enrolment Forms will be sent in a response email after parents register for Session 1.  Please check your emails and complete promptly. 
For ethical and legal reasons, The Archdiocese of Brisbane requires both parents (legal guardians) to provide consent for childhood Sacraments.  Please attach relevant court orders if there is only one parent signatory. Please call the parish if you have any questions.

​The Sacrament of Confirmation is the second of the three sacraments of Christian initiation.
 
Confirmation completes Baptism, by which in the laying on of hands and the anointing with Chrism Oil, which first happened at Baptism, we are confirmed with the fullness of the Holy Spirit.
 
We are reminded of our participation in the ministry and mission of Jesus, and strengthened to follow Jesus more closely.   (from the Flame of Faith website)

In the year that children turn eight (Year 3), they are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.
