2025 SACRAMENTAL PROGRAM - SACRAMENT OF RECONCILIATION As your child continues to grow and explore their faith, this special sacrament will allow them to experience God's forgiveness and feel closer to Him. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is the sacrament of spiritual healing and mercy. We will speak about sin, but sin is not the point. It's the outcome that really matters, namely that – having said sorry – the children will receive the gift of forgiveness and be restored to a right relationship with God and with one another.
Please consider whether you are able to commit to the full program before enrolling. The content and experiences of the program are necessary preparation for the celebration of the Sacrament. To enrol, children must have been baptised, confirmed, and received their First Holy Communion. They will usually be in Year 5 at school. Enrolments close on Sunday 7th of September.
At Mother of Mercy Parish, Reconciliation/Confession is held on Saturdays at 4pm at St. Cecilia’s Church, Hamilton. You can also arrange another time for Confession by calling the Parish Office on 3268 3040 to make an appointment or email [email protected].
The Sacrament of Penance is one of two sacraments of healing (the other being the Anointing of the Sick). Penance is a sacrament of forgiveness and celebrates God’s love and mercy towards us. It is about acknowledging and naming those times when we know we have done wrong, and then making peace and restoring the relationships with those who have been affected by our poor choices.
In the year that children turn ten (Year 5), they are eligible to receive the Sacrament of Penance if they have received the sacraments of initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist). Please see our Sacramental Program for more information. Please email the Sacramental Coordinator at [email protected] with any further queries.
