Baptism

​Baptism is the first of three Sacraments of Initiation in the Catholic Church, the other two being Confirmation and Eucharist. Through Baptism we are incorporated into the body of Christ.
 
Mother of Mercy Parish is delighted to welcome new members into our Catholic faith by Baptism. The Parish is here to support families in their faith journeys. An initial Baptism meeting is required with our Parish Priest (usually held on Saturday mornings).  At this meeting, the priest will answer any questions about baptism and assist families in connecting to our church community.  Also at this meeting, the Parish Priest will set the date of baptism and attendance at a Baptismal Preparation session and a Rite of Reception , where the child and family are introduced to the community, takes place during Mass in the weeks prior to the Baptism.
